Voice of American Orthodox Catholic Christianity

"One of the most excellent allotments of the gift of faith, is for a man to be certain of the petition of his prayer through his trust in God. Certainty of faith in God is not  the soundness of a man's confession  (although this is the mother of faith), but a soul that beholds the truth of God by the power of her disciplines." St. Isaac the Syrian

"So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase."  1 Corinthians 3:7

The American Orthodox Church and North American Orthodox Church defines Western Orthodoxy not in terms of nationalism or ethnocentrism, but as giving the faith and belief as it was from the early Church in ways respective of the diversity of nationalities and ethnicities which makes up the American people.

We bring this through a fully participatory Liturgy that teaches the faith in ways the people can relate to, not by enforcing unfamiliar customs and practices.

The Americas are western nations, thus the AOC-NAOC is a Western Orthodox Church of World Wide Orthodox Catholic Christianity.

Until recently, most scholars agreed that Orthodox Christians didn’t really exist. Like werewolves, fairies and Romanians, they were simply a charming Old World fable designed to delight children with outlandish details regarding the rich, luxurious beards and interminable arguments about the proper interpretation of Greek or Latin words.

Upon further reflection, some scholars now cautiously hazard the guess that there are roughly 250 million Orthodox Christians in the world, with a lineage stretching back to the earliest days of the Church. As for what these strange, chanting, hirsute folk actually believe, though, no one is yet confident enough to hazard a guess.

We are what you once were.
We believe what you once believed.
We worship as you once worshiped.
If you were right then, we are right now.
If we are wrong now, you were wrong then.
A Canonical Orthodox Church of World Wide Orthodoxy

Orthodoxy is the end of a virtually unbroken chain from the Year One until the present, and the repository of wisdom from many hundreds of "fathers" and "mothers" of the church -- saints, monastics, hierarchs, theologians and just fellow-seekers.

Any Orthodox church will be the "port in a storm" for me, whether I find myself (as I have) in Johannesburg, Calcutta, Vladivostok or San Diego -- if the prayers are in Greek, Bengali, Church Slavonic or English, they are the very same prayers.

The doctrine is straight (the literal meaning of "orthodoxy") from the scriptures, as interpreted by the Church over time, especially in ecumenical councils (that is, not by any one pontiff, expert or authority, but by the whole Body of Christ).

The Orthodox Church will never remove "belief in Jesus Christ" as a tenet, and does not offer Holy Communion to those with whom we are not in communion (shared beliefs), but will comfort even non-believers, for the Samaritan is our neighbor, whatever he believes. If we reserve the consecrated bread for those who believe it to be The Body, we give another kind of bread to the visitor to the Church, in a gesture of hospitality and caring.

Tend toward conservatism and you will find many who will be with you - Orthodoxy does conserve what is most valuable and only changes ever so slowly. On the other hand, any Orthodox Christian should be liberal -- with his gifts and talents, with what wealth God has given him, and with his compassion. Many would say that the death penalty is "right" and abortion "left" -- the Church says "He is the life" - conversely, then, life is "Him" wherever we find it.

Government power or control is an interesting question for Orthodox. Did the conversion of Emperor Constantine save the Church by expanding its influence, or endanger the Church by diluting the purity of its message? Constantine is recognized as a saint, but few Orthodox are out trying to elect the next president on the basis of how "Orthodox" he is.

Orthodoxy is definitely "so tradition bound as to even believe in God" - but if you are looking for perfection, this is not it. The Orthodox Church, like each individual human being, has aspects of divinity and of humanity - fallen humanity, sordid and sometimes awful humanity. We have our disgusting scandals right now (not for the first time in history). But while you will not hear much talk in Orthodox circles of an "invisible Church," there is certainly the Church that we pray to have continue, which is better than any current set of hierarchs, better than any particular parish (even the healthiest and most pious), better than any one of us its members. That is the Body of Christ, to which we both belong and aspire.

How old is your church?

If you are a Lutheran, your denomination was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.

If you belong to the Church of England, your denomination was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope of the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry.

If you are a Presbyterian, your denomination was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.

If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.

If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your denomination was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Seabury in the American colonies in the 17th century.

If you are a member of the Baptist denomination, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606.

If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michaelis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628.

If you are a Methodist, your religious denomination was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774.

If you are a Unitarian, Theophilus Lindley founded your church in London in 1774.

If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your cultic religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829.

If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.

If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your cultic religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.

If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your cultic religion is one of the hundreds of new cultic sects founded by men within the past hundred years not grounded upon or in the Life & Teachings of Jesus Christ.

If you are a member of the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church. Lamentably, in 1054, the Pope of Rome broke away from the other four Apostolic Patriarchates (which include Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, various doctrines, theologies and considered himself to be infallible as has been maintained by her successors who sit in the chair of Peter at the Vatican (Rome). Thus your church is 1,000 years old and why it's "Catholicity is in serious question as well as why it is just a Jurisdiction for all Catholicity began with Holy Orthodoxy".

If you are Orthodox Christian, yours was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and His Holy Apostles. It has not changed since that time. Orthodox Catholic Christianity is not a new religion or even a denomination, for it is the root, ground and base of all things CHRISTIAN and CATHOLIC (before the Roman Jurisdiction schismed in 1054 A.D.).  Orthodox Catholic Christianity is now almost 2,000 years old or older. And, it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church" for which cause this Jurisdiction (the American Orthodox Church and the North American Orthodox Church) has said it belongs to that which is a member of the "One, Holy, Orthodox, Catholic and Apostolic Church" even though such revision has never been sanctioned by the various Patriarchates.  The purpose is due to the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church's insidious and adamant obstinacy in continuing to preach and teach that which is in violation of the ancient Holy Spirit inspired Seven Ecumenical Councils.

I don't understand why so many churches preach different messages," he said. "Other churches base their beliefs on the Bible. But the Orthodox Church (root, ground and base of all things CHRISTIAN and CATHOLIC ABOVE AND OVER the Roman Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church which is stems from ORTHODOXY) made the Bible."

A Churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of his local newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the clergy are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

"I've been married for 30 years now.. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

Who We Are

JESUS WAS A MAN... are you a man or woman who needs uplift and understanding in your so that you can defend yourself spiritually and materially?

On Mother's Day in 1981, His Eminence, Metropolitan Archbishop +Joseph Thaddeus, OSB, SSJt., Ph.D. was first consecrated (lines of succession) Bishop in the Catholic Christian Church which was later absorbed into the American Orthodox Church.  That was over twenty years ago....>>>Read More>>>

Our Core Beliefs YES... JESUS WAS A MAN... are you a man or woman who needs uplift and understanding in your life so that you can defend yourself spiritually and materially?

I believe in one God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God; begotten of his Father before all worlds; God of God; Light of Light; very God of very God; begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man: And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, he suffered and was buried: He descended into hell and on the third day he rose again according to the scriptures: and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father: and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.   >>>Read More>>>

Education:  WOTI - Pascha Page (learning) and More As you may (or may not) know.... the Western Orthodox Theological Institute (WOTI) is the predecessor of the now closed St. John Chrysostom University from which our present Presiding Bishop (Primate) graduated from. He was, at one time, an attorney at law for another Jurisdiction of the Catholic Church prior to coming to the American Orthodox Church / North American Orthodox Church.  There is much you can learn if you study with diligence those simple things of life, living and spirituality which we intend to provide you, if you are willing.

Learning will be on a case-by-case basis.  Meaning, that the schedule for learning will be yours to control.  No one is going to push you, except yourself!  Most of the students enrolled in WOTI are not on-campus.   Our fees and schedules are already shown in the Catalog of Courses.

About and Why - Daily News

Daily News is very important to those who are true Orthodox Catholic Christians.  For without knowing or gaining information for understanding about what is happening in one's local area and around the world, you could  find yourself faced with denied services in the secular area, lack of income, even (although it sounds far-fetched) ability to worship openly for the time is not far off when all will have to decide if they wish to follow the Anti-Christ through the One World Church and One World Government as prophesied by the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation of St. John or follow the faith delivered once and for all which will cause for many to be denied the abilities to survive under those kind of conditions, causing for one to consider other options...  Commemorations of the Saints, the Living and the Reposed  "The irrational creatures are not autonomous; they do not lead but rather are led by nature. This is why they do not object to physical desire, but rush to action just as soon as they feel desirous. Man however being rational leads nature rather than being led by it. Thus when he would desire something, he has the authority either to overrule that desire or to follow it."                                  St. John of Damascus.

"All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."                                                                                                     1 Corinthians 6:12

Most of the Clergy of this Church (Jurisdiction) are purposefully and intentionally NOT LISTED to protect their privacy and the mandates of the CATACOMB CHURCH MOVEMENT to which we have belonged and adhered to since 1981.   About Apostolic Lines of Succession  The compass of the Church has always been through Her Apostles and disciples who have been gifted, by the grace of God to understand and interpret that which the Church authored, the Holy Bible.  And when such clergy, according to their nature and degree of ability, maintain all that is required in spirit and truth to maintain themselves accordingly, they are true disciples and apostles.  Others who were prepared but have allowed themselves to imbibe more in those things of this life, having become synchrestic ecumenists and more... are no longer Disciples or even Apostles (Priests and Bishops) even though they have the documents to show forth their status... It is, after all, their spiritual adherence which affects the mind and it is through their thoughts, words and actions one learns of their worth.  The Devil or Satan and his minions infect many people, groups and so-called churches in these present times.  The Devil or Satan, after all, is of the air in this earth and is powerful.  But clergy who maintain that which the Church has always taught, even unto prison or death, are true servants of Jesus Christ's and the people of God in spirit and truth! Apostolic Lines bespeak of ones link to the first Apostles only but does not guarantee that one maintains truth in them unless they daily take action within to erradicate that which must be eradicated in their spirit. >>>Read More>>>>
